The Sorcerer"s Stone was an excellent introduction to the Harry Potter series. The main focus for this film was the development of the characters. Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter could not have been better casted; he not only did a phenomenal job but also made the character come to life. Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, who played Ron and Hermione were also wonderful throughout the whole film. The other characters such as Dumbledore, Hagrid, and McGonagall may play smaller parts however they are no less impressive. Along with the characters, this film also introduces Hogwarts, which was an unbelievable creation. The journey for the three children into Hogwarts and into each other"s lives was very well done.
I feel an element which adds a lot of character to the film is its use of lighting. The scenes inside of Hogwarts are lit by candlelight, torches, and oil lamps which gives them a very old world ambiance. Although the scenes were darker, this use of lighting allows the audience a truer look into how Hogwarts would have been.
Once everyone is properly introduced to the audience, the plot shifts from character development to the story of Harry"s, Hermione"s, and Ron"s search for the Sorcerer"s Stone. As the children explore Hogwarts and search for the truth it is important to see how the characters react to conflict and how it continually builds the storyline. This is also important due to the fact that it is the first movie in the series and is setting the groundwork for those that follow.
The next movie in the series Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, followed in the footsteps of its predecessor. It continues to develop the characters and helps to form an even deeper emotional attachment between them and the audience. The theme continues not only throughout the first film but all of those that follow. This made these films almost an addiction to the viewers, everyone who watches has a genuine concern for all of the characters and a curiosity about what will happen next.
The unifying central concerns for this film were both characters and plot; both of these were equally important for the film as a whole. Together they created one of the most acclaimed family films of our time.

This film is magical. I had two MAJOR problems. One being that HOGWARTS felt awkward, and Daniel Radcliffe played the part, he looks the part but he does not have the acting talent. I believe he got the part because he does look quite like HARRY POTTER. The two and a half hours went quickly, but I found Daniel Radcliffe so AWKWARD! This film could have been better. out of. See it if you can. Also so much money was spent on not so spectacular cgi. I love the book, the film was okay. It has suffered the Hannibal disease; hyped beyond bloody belief, but a dissapointment. Thor: Ragnarok is an exactly this type of film - an excellent two hours which never takes itself too seriously, provides plenty of action and an abundance of laughs.
I"m not a hardcore Marvel movie fan (and I"ve read reviews from hardcore fans who feel this movie fails to meet their requirements) but this is exactly the type of film I enjoy.
The banter between Thor and Hulk was spot on, while the funny references to other Marvel characters are subtle and hilarious. Korg (voiced by Kiwi director Taika Waititi) is a consistent scene stealer, and Jeff Goldblum is perfectly cast as the mischievous Grandmaster.
After watching this, I feel the need to revisit other Marvel titles (which will take up my next few nights) and I highly recommend this excellent film.

Thor 3: Ragnarok Download. I"m suspicious when there"s weeks and weeks of promotional hype before a film constantly reminding me how much I"ll like the film. True enough, the trailers were epic and noteworthy. I can"t say the same about Ragnarok. I get it that Marvel wanted to shake things up with some humor, but there"s a limit to how much humor can be shoved into a scene. Or many scenes. Anyway, Ragnarok seemed to drag out a short story to a little over two hours painfully trying to convince me how dire the situation was with Hela and the imminent destruction of Asgard. Dr. Strange"s appearance was. strange. Short. A waste of using him in a near non-sequitur. Cate Blanchett rocks the Hela character. She made Death gorgeous, catty, bitter and looking fabulous. I was hoping for something more wicked, darker, after all she is the Goddess of Death. The character got lost though in lots of chatter and stand and pose. Several instances pop up that pose questions, like how did Hulk manage to talk so much, and how did he, in all his green anger, seem to be sexy? Why? Jeff Goldblum as Grand Master is downright annoying and campy. But maybe that"s the whole point, and if it is, it was a great distraction from what this film was supposed to be about. And what was what, again. I forget. Anyway, good for entertainment, worst of the Thor films so far.
